We often ask ourselves “Why is this happening to me again?” when a hardship would fall upon us. The amount time and energy we would put into trying to get out of our own mental dilemma—triggered by an unknown source or perhaps a place in your life that you abruptly left but never completely healed from.
Have you ever caught yourself in a cycle, wondering how am I going to get out of this rut, and move on completely, without ever going back to the same place? Have you ever wondered how would you then
Then came a voice, a revelation, a thought, a person, a book, an article, or an experience— whatever it may be—that had caused you to get out of that deep, dark hole… You found it. The solution to the problem. The answer to the question.
“The light at the end of the tunnel”
But it was a long, difficult process to get there but somehow you did. You’ve finally found the wisdom behind the hardship or whatever you wanted so bad but never had.
You’ve grown out of it. What was once a rock on your shoulder became light as the feather for you to carry.
You know you’ve reached a certain level of wisdom when another hardship – of intensity as it had been before – falls on you, you’d say “Hasbunallahu wa ni’mal wakeel” (
Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us) ) and finally feel at peace.
Rather than asking yourself, “Why is this happening to me again?”, you’d shift your focus on “What is Allah trying to teach me?”
In the end, it has always been about you and Him. Everything in between was just a means.
